Cooking for Dogs, by canine expert Marjorie Walsh, will help
people to celebrate a special occasion in their pet’s life or
simply include their pooch in their family meal plans.
The full-colour 96-page hardback book from New Holland Publishers is now available at a cost of £7.99.
Full of nutritious ingredients for a happy and healthy dog, the 50 recipes range from paw-lickin’ pizza and salmon stroganoff to cheesy beef bites and doggie ice cream.
There are sections on breakfasts, fast food, snacks and treats, meals for special occasions and even dishes that both dogs and their owners can share such as beef and black bean stew and braised squash with green lentils.
The result of years of research and testing on Marjorie’s own dogs, the recipes are supplemented by essential advice on the importance of calcium and B12 in the diet, as well as
advice on portion size and on why eggs are a super dog food.
In addition to being a new author, Marjorie and her husband Craig combine
rearing Angus cattle and rare breed pigs for the sale of luxury Kobe
beef and Kurobuta pork with running the UK’s first luxury dog hotel at Lucies Farm near Worcester.
Marjorie said: “I was dismayed by the by-products and derivatives to be found in commercial pet food soI decided to improve the diet of our bull terriers by basing their food on what we eat, using special software to make sure it was nutritionally balanced to the established guidelines
for dogs. “As a result of their eager taste-testing of recipes containing fresh meat, fish, eggs,
cereal and vegetables, our dogs have developed better coats, more energy and a better
digestive system.” Cooking for Dogs is now available from all good bookshops, online booksellers, by mail order from GBS on 01476 541080, and direct from Lucies Farm either through its website at www.luciesfarm.com or by telephoning 01905 830 380.
